The Chenega Annual Report design was centered around a custom photoshoot featuring meaningful artifacts from the region, brought together by shareholders and descendants to “reflect on the past and navigate the future.” Each photograph captures community members proudly holding or wearing the treasured cultural items, symbolizing how the knowledge, resilience, and traditions of the past continue to guide future generations.

In honor of Chenega’s 50th year, reflection became both a theme and a visual device. Every portrait was artistically enhanced with standing water at the subject’s feet, creating a mirrored reflection of the individual. This water treatment not only reinforced the idea of looking back while moving forward, but also created a subtle splash — representing growth, movement, and the lasting impact of each generation.

As a lasting tribute, each artifact is preserved within the pages of the report, accompanied by its name and a brief description written in the region’s Native language. Together, the imagery and storytelling create a powerful visual narrative of heritage, continuity, and a community confidently shaping its next chapter.
